Burning Man 2007

2007 was a bizarre year, which began with a controversial theme and was kicked off by the famous arson of the Man during the total eclipse of the moon on Monday night. It also had some interestin weather.

Shot from the tower in Anti-Camp at 6:45 and Esplanade, this shows the city in lovely light on Wednesday before sunset. As you will note, the man is absent from his mountain, because he was burned on Monday night, and was taken down for replacement. You can see where the fire hoses washed the playa dust off the green canvas under where the man stood.

Friday featured a glorious dust storm, rain and double rainbow. However, I was not set up to shoot a panorama -- rain in Black Rock means batten down your camp and stay put -- but I climbed up in my own camp to shoot this with the last of the rainbow leading into Crude Awakenings. The light is lovely and everybody else is also standing up watching the rainbow fade.

Another Wednesday shot from Anti-Camp, but this time the wide angle view showing the clouds and the area around.

I rushed out to do shots of the double rainbow. In a hurry, you make mistakes, especially handheld, so this is not my favourite technically but the scene is glorious.
